This is Goodbye
Now that the World Cup is over, it’s time for me to say goodbye.
Unexpected Goals and my career as a writer are over. I’ll get into the reasons below, but I’ll take a job as an accountant and am going back to living a normal, quiet life away from the internet.
One thing I’ve learned in my life is that I never wanted to ask the question “What if?” If I had the opportunity to take a risk, I always wanted to see what’s on the other side.
I tried to walk away from sports betting and venture into something different. In the end, it didn’t work out. My newsletter didn’t take off and instead went the opposite way, but you know what, I am perfectly okay with it.
Instead, I almost feel a sense of freedom from this being over. Freedom in the sense that I now know based on the evidence for certain that God does not want me to continue down this path. That more than anything brings me eternal peace, which is way more important to me than happiness.
That’s the funny thing about this life we all live. We learn more from our failures than we do from our successes. I certainly have learned more about myself in the last two years than I did in my first 32 years of my life.
I’ve been reflecting on these past five years, and it’s one of gratitude. I am grateful for all of the wonderful people I’ve met along the way. Living what was once a dream for me was truly a blessing, but if I am being honest, this is no longer my dream.
For the last six months, this has felt like work for the first time in five years. Day by day, I am losing joy in writing, analyzing, and podcasting. When that happens, it’s time to walk away.
I’ll be off the internet completely in the next couple of months. I am going back to living a normal life with my family, which is truly what I desire at this stage in my life.
I don’t know if this is goodbye forever. I am not God, so maybe one day I’ll be back, but for now this is goodbye.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much to everyone who has supported me over the years. I cannot tell you how much it means to me to still see people wanting to read what I write or actually listen to my podcast.
A special thank you also to Anthony Dabbundo and Michael Leboff for everything and all of the great Wondergoal memories.
May God bless you and keep you in his presence all the days of your life.
